Charles was born on November 24, 1928 in Elihu, KY to the late Everett Mounce and Maggie Brown Mounce. He was a laborer at Tecumseh for 22 years. He was a life-long member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Mae Soard Mounce, whom he married in Cookeville, TN on March 31, 1967; his children, Gloria (and Phillip) Woodall of Somerset, Connie (and Wayne) Nelson of Somerset, Vickie Gover of Somerset and Charles Dwayne Mounce of Somerset; his stepchildren, Phyllis Miller of Indiana, Jerry (and Zedra) Sears of Pine Knot, Patty (and David) Meece of Burnside, Carl Sears of Virginia Beach, Kenny (and Phyllis) Sears of Somerset, Gerald (and Judy) Sears of Science Hill, Glen Mounce of Somerset, Jeff Mounce (and Tabatha Hancock) of Somerset, and Tonya Mounce of Somerset; a sister, Donna Bullock of Somerset; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janivie Walden Mounce; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Soard and Elva Heath Soard; a son-in-law, David Gover, a daughter-in-law, June Sears, a sister, Irene Soard; two brothers-in-law, Sherman Soard and Ralph Bullock; and two grandchildren, Marc Nelson and Crystal Miller.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Wilson and Bro. David Baker officiating. Burial will be at Nelson Cemetery in Somerset. Charles’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
