He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He worked in the oilfield for 21 years and then retired from Green County Schools after 26 years as a Bus Driver, he also was a farmer for many years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Jeffries Coffey on January 28, 2022 having united in marriage on February 12, 1972.
Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Tina and Glenn Wisdom of the Little Barren Community; a son: David Brian Coffey of the Little Barren Community; a granddaughter: Cecily Wisdom of the Little Barren Community; two sisters: Margaret Houk and Louise Perry both of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Coffey was also preceded in death by four brothers: Richard Coffey, Glen Coffey, Gene Coffey, and Tom Coffey.
The funeral services for Cecil Barkley Coffey will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Central Time, Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Little Barren Cemetery. Bro. Meryl Young officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M, Central Time, Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Central Time, Monday until time of the funeral service.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take form of donation to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
