Bobby “Denver” Hawk, age 65, of Nancy, KY, departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Denver was born on January 23, 1950, in Pulaski County, Kentucky to the late Ancil Lee and Edna Aliean Blevins Hawk. He was a member of the Somerset American Legion, Past Commander of D.A.V. Chapter 48 and Royal Ambassador Leader at Bethany Baptist Church.
He loved playing his guitar, music especially Bluegrass, fishing, sports and especially UK Basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian “Mussie” Hawk of Nancy, KY to whom he married on June 12, 1976 in Jellico, TN; three sons, Bobby Eric Sebastian Hawk of Nancy, KY, Joseph Dale (and Ginger) Hawk of Richmond, KY and Randy Phipps of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Shelly Renee Hawk Pitman of Nancy, KY and Tammy Hawk (and Brian) Strange of Columbia, KY; a brother Donald Eugene “Duck” Hawk (and Darlene Richards) of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Dianne B. Shadoan of Somerset, KY; eight grandchildren, Aaron “Skeeter” Hawk, Alex Hawk, Adam Hawk, Emily Hawk, Cody Hawk, Brandi Moore, Tyler Moore and Amber Moore; and one great-granddaughter, Erin Hawk; and many nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Derl Duke Hawk, Jerry Dale Hawk, Ronald David Hawk and James Ervin Hawk; and a sister, Anna Lee Hawk.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 after 5:00 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Lester Caldwell, Bro. Clyde Strunk and Bro. Rick Lawson officiating. Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jeff Smith, Skeeter Hawk, Joey Hawk, Tommy “Cito” Hawk, Eric Hawk, Tim “Wink” Shadoan, Danny Weddle, Larry Shadoan and Johnny Hopper. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Hawk, Adam Hawk, Tyler Moore, Cody Hawk and Lynn Hawk.
