He was born June 10, 1944 in Russell County to the late William & Rittie Dykes Guffey.
Arlis was a Veteran of US Army who served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne division. He owned and operated Valley Scale, LLC in Clarksville, Indiana, from 1977 to 2012.

Funeral service for Arlis MacArthur Guffey will be 1 PM. Sunday, November 6, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation after 6 PM. Saturday and 12 Noon on Sunday.
Burial in the Guffey Family Cemetery with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.
