She was born August 8, 1948, in Albany, KY, to the late Virgil and Rhoda Sidwell Melton. She was a former caregiver and homemaker.

Three daughters – Nicole Burton & Vicki Jeffries both of Columbia, Teresa Harvey of Greensburg

One half-brother – Christopher Stephens of Russell Springs
