Born October 29, 1925 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Oscar S. and Berrilla Roberts Rader. She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. She was an accomplished self-taught painter and homemaker. Alpha enjoyed sewing, canning and cooking for her family.
Survivor include a daughter, Jan Shoopman (and Ken) Binder of Danville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands, Alvie Shoopman, Ed Hammersley, and Doug Kickliter; a son, George Gerald Shoopman; and two brothers, William Terrill Rader and Travis Rader.
Graveside services are 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Valley Oak Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Clark officiating. No Visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Danville/Boyle County Humane Society in memory of Alpha Rader-Shoopman-Kickliter.
