The Barren County Grand Jury returned no true bill yesterday against Glasgow Police Officer Joey Judd.

On March 24th, Glasgow Police released a statement about Officer Judd and stated he had been suspended with pay.

KSP had notified GPD that they were called to investigate a complaint involving Officer Judd. While off-duty, Judd and the juvenile son of his fiancé become involved in what was described as a ‘domestic situation’. The juvenile was injured and taken to TJ Samson where he was released after treatment.

Officer Judd has remained on paid suspension since the 24th, pending the results of the state police investigation. Yesterday the grand jury heard testimony in regard to the what happened during the ‘domestic situation’, and did not feel they had enough evidence to formally charge Judd with any crime related to the events.

State Police are expected to release a formal comment sometime today.

Zach Pyles bond for  Gatton Academy

PictureZach Pyles, son of Doug and Tammy Pyles.
Word spreads quickly in our district and everyone is abuzz with chatter, pride, and congratulatory thought for a wonderful young man by the name of Zack Pyles. When I met with him this morning, there was no question who he belonged to since he is a wonderful mix of both his Dad, Doug, and His Mother, Tammy, and a humble nature that is very endearing. When I asked Zack about his recent acceptance to the Gatton Academy he replied “it has always been my dream.” I asked which area of study he preferred Science or Math and he quickly said “Both!” .

The Gatton Academy is housed on the Western Kentucky University campus and acceptance is limited to 100 students per year.  The academy provides a rich living and learning environment designed especially for academically talented high school students and features advanced learning opportunities and research projects yet provides enrichment for the students social life as well with clubs, organizations, and community service.

When I asked Zach about how his parents felt about him being accepted and leaving home. He said “they are proud, but I think Mom will miss me.” For those of us who know his sweet and loving mother, there is no question Zack ---  she will miss you. When I spoke with Tammy briefly this morning, she was proud and excited then started praising his teachers and all those in the district who had helped Zach reach his fullest potential and achieve this opportunity. The thing she said that stood out the most for me was “people have no idea just how great our teachers, counselors, and staff are in this school system” what better endorsement could anyone ask for.

Our district is so proud to have played a role in the development of Zach’s love of Math and Science and wish him only the best. Zach will start his new life at Gatton in August 2016.
