The Adair County Fiscal Court will meet in regular session on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 4:00 P.M. CT  in the basement of the Adair County Annex building located at 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY 42728. This meeting will not be open to the public due to the COVID19 Executive Order Governor Beshear put in effect but will be lived streamed on Adair County Fiscal Court’s Facebook Page live.

Pipeline is being blown down.   Update:

Enbridge Inc. operators of gas transmission pipeline more popularly known as Texas Eastern contacted the Adair County 911 Center requesting temporary evacuation assistance at a location near North Highway 55.  Multiple Agencies responded and assisted with evacuation of residents.  

Pipeline service stations in Plum Point and Weed Sparksville area are currently being “blown down”.  Expect a loud noise but no immediate threat in those areas.  

Enbridge is on the scene and coordinating efforts along with County Officials.  

 ​Update 21:25 4/24/2020 
The issue was determined to be a main water line leaking that crosses the gas pipeline, residents that were evacuated have been given the all clear to return to their homes. 

We want to thank Enbridge for their quick response.  

Thanks to Columbia - Adair County Fire Department, Adair Sheriff Office, Kentucky State Police, Columbia Gas Department, Judge Cowan, Adair County Water District and Adair 911 for assistance.  

At approximately 9-12AM Central on Saturday 4/24/2020 there will be another venting “blow down” sound at in the area of Plum Point as they refill the line.

Lindsey Wilson Football releases 2020 schedule

Lindsey Wilson football head coach Chris Oliver announced the 2020 Blue Raider schedule on Wednesday.

The Blue Raiders are slated to play a 10-game schedule in 2020 with five home and five away games. 

Lindsey Wilson opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Blue Raider Stadium against Mid-South Conference newcomer Florida Memorial in a non-divisional game. The season-opener marks the only game on the Lindsey Wilson schedule featuring a team the Blue Raiders are playing for the first time.

The Blue Raiders are slated to play a pair of night games this season -- both on the road. Lindsey Wilson faces Campbellsville at 6 p.m. CT on Oct. 10 in Campbellsville in the annual Battle of Highway 55 and Cumberland (Tenn.) at 5 p.m. CT on Oct. 31 in Lebanon.

Lindsey Wilson also travels to Bluefield (Va.) on Sept. 12, Kentucky Christian on Sept. 26 and Georgetown (Ky.) on Oct. 17.

The Blue Raiders host Thomas More (Ky.) at 2:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 3. The game is part of Homecoming weekend as well as Lindsey Wilson’s MSC Bluegrass Division opener.

The Blue Raiders host Cumberlands (Ky.) on Oct. 24 and close out the regular season with back-to-back home games against Bethel (Tenn.) on Nov. 7 and Pikeville (Ky.) on Nov. 14.

Lindsey Wilson is coming off its best season in the program’s history in 2019. The Blue Raiders won a program-record 12 games en route to reaching the NAIA Football Championship Series Semifinals.

Adair County Sheriffs Office arrest Adair County woman on felony drug and fleeing fugitive charges.

On 4-19-20 at 11:17 pm Deputy Joey Keith and K-9 Deputy Josh Durbin initiated a traffic stop on a  2001 Pontiac off of Campbellsville Rd.   
 

   Roadside investigation resulted in a suspicion of illegal narcotics being suspected in the vehicle.   K-9 Nitro was implemented and indicated a positive hit for narcotics in the vehicle.   A search of vehicle was conducted and as a result Methamphetamine was located along with marijuana.  

     It was also found that passenger Angela Gullet,  was using an alias as Angela Brooks.   Angela was entered as wanted Fugitive from Marion County Indiana with confirmed extradition. 

     Angela Gullett (Brooks ), age 41, was arrested and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of :

1- Fleeing Fugitive from another state 
2-  Possession of  Controlled Substance 1st degree methamphetamine 
3- Possession of Marijuana 
4- tampering  with physical evidence.

Planning & Zoning to meet at 10 am on Monday, April 20th

The City of Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a special called meeting at 10 a.m. CT, Monday, April 20 at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. This will be held via teleconference pursuant to emergency orders of the Governor. The purpose of the meeting is to review site development plans for the Adair County Public Library located at 307 Greensburg Street.

Injury accident on Ky South 61

On 4-13-20  Adair County Sheriffs  Office  responded to an injury collision on KY South 61. 

     The collision occurred when Alvin Bright,  48, of CAMPBELLSVILLE  was traveling south on KY 61  in a 2017 Ford truck.  A trailer being pulled by Bright detached from the truck and entered into the oncoming lane.   The trailer struck a 2014 Jeep being operated by Heather Bartlett,  42, of Russell Springs who was traveling north.   

   Bartlett was treated on scene by Adair County EMS and then transferred to TJ Health of Columbia.   Bright was uninjured and seat belts were in use. 

     Sheriffs Deputy Chandler Staten in investigating the collision and he was assisted on scene by the Columbia Police Department and the Columbia -Adair County Fire Department.

Two vehicle accident on Russell Springs Rd.

On Friday April the 10th 2020 at approximately 4:12 pm the Adair County Sheriffs Office responded to a two vehicle injury accident on approximately 2 miles east of Columbia on Russell Springs Road.

 The accident occurred when 29 year old Bethany Witham of Campbellsville operating her 2017 Mazda passenger car failed to stop on East 80 drive and pulled into the path of a 2020 Freightliner Semi being operated by 45 year old Columbus Mcgrew of Louisville Ky. Mcgrew was not injured. The Witham vehicle was knocked off the roadway. Witham was treated on the scene by Adair County Ems and later flown out by helicopter to University of Kentucky for injuries sustained.

 Sheriff Deputy  Brandon Hitch is investigating officer and was assisted by Columbia Police Department , Kentucky State Police, and Columbia - Adair County Fire Department

​Good morning to our community partners. It is not usual that your local health department puts out a request for donations. However in this critical time we are in need of things. If any of you have the items listed below and could share with us we would be very appreciative. We appreciate each of you and know business is suffering in our community. Thank you all!
 
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donations such as:  Surgical gowns, Surgical face shields, Surgical masks, N-95 masks.

Adair County man arrested on Methamphetamine Charges

The Adair County Sheriffs Office has arrested James Bule, Tennessee, after Sheriffs K-9 Deputy Josh Durbin was dispatched to the 2000 block of KY South 55 to investigate a complaint .   
    During investigation  Methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia was located.

  He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of :
- Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree methamphetamine 
- Possession of Marijuana 
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 
- Public Intoxication excludes alcohol 

     Adair County Sheriffs Office is Continuing investigation
