Each car was equipped with a Panasonic Tough Book, license scanners and printer. This will allow deputy’s to do a large portion of their work directly from their car. They will now be able to do electronic citations, accident reports, and case reports without having to drive back to sheriffs office to complete. In addition they will be able to check and print from E -Warrants, check Courtnet system and complete many other task.
“ I am very pleased we were able to get these and thankful to the Adair County Fiscal Court and Judge Executive Gale Cowan for approving the purchase. We have a small department with an extremely high work load. The Sheriff’s Offices in our commonwealth are task with more duties then just taking 911 complaints and patrolling which is the standard for most police agency’s. They also have to serve all civil papers, EPO’s, transport prisoners, transport of mental patients, evictions, vehicle inspections, service of warrants, and additional constitutional duties. All this is done with 6 deputies. I say that to say that this upgrade will allow deputies to utilize their time and work more efficiently by putting them back on the road after a call quicker. Example accident reports can be done on side of road while waiting for a wrecker eliminating their drive back to office and time to type report there. J-C 3 reports to Child Protective services can be sent from the scene. Deputies will be able to conduct zoom court proceedings from their vehicles. The deputies are also exposed to a lot of people everyday, this equipment allows them to work more remotely and reduces the risk if they become positive for Covid from
coming into the county government building and spreading the virus in the building. These are just a few examples of how it benefits our office and the residents of Adair County “ Sheriff Josh Brockman
