Nearly two years have passed since the murder of Bardstown Police Department Officer Jason Ellis. Kentucky State Police hope a new video plea for information will provide fresh leads about the case.

KSP Public Affairs Officer Trooper Jeff Gregory hopes today’s video release will encourage someone, who may have information about the case, to contact authorities.

“Someone somewhere knows something about this murder,” says Gregory. “Even the smallest detail could be the information we need to make an arrest in this case.  More importantly, we want to provide the Ellis family with closure in their lives.”

Gregory says KSP will utilize its social media platforms to blast the video out across the country, including YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

“Social Media is another platform that we can use to solve crimes by connecting immediately with a local, state and national audience through the Internet.”

To view the new Officer Ellis video, click on the following link:

Gregory encourages the public to submit tips by contacting the KSP Elizabethtown Post at (270) 766-5078 or call the toll-free KSP Tip Line at (800) 222-5555.  An email address has also been established for tips atEllisCaseETips@ky.gov.  You can also text a tip confidentially using a cell phone.  Simply text the tip to 67283, type KSPTIP in the message field, leave a space and enter your tip information.

KSP advises that the reward funds for this case have reached $185,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.

Adair County High School Baseball Team wins their 2nd consecutive 20th District Championship

Congratulations to the Adair County High School Baseball Team for winning their 2nd consecutive 20th District Championship. We are all very proud of you all!

Coach Mantooth stated: “I've challenged this group all year about energy and determination.  I told them on Tuesday and Thursday that it's going to take every single one of us to bring those two things from start to finish.  I tip my hat to the 27 kids in that dugout.  They bought into each other and every single one of them had the same mindset.  So, at the end of the day, they deserve all the credit.

We did have some very good individual performances. However, this group knows we are not a team out for individual awards.  We are about Squad 44.  We represent all of Adair Co."

Some things are WORTH talking about!

5/22/2015

There are some things just worth talking about! Senior Aaran Taylor is not only a great student who is a pleasure to have in class, but he is also well spoken and always has a smile on his face. His academic record speaks for itself. Just an all around good kid, but there is something about Aaran many may not  know. He has never missed a day of school. Aaran started school in the Adair County School System in preschool and has had perfect attendance his entire academic career.

And that isn’t the entire story. His mother, Amanda Taylor, had K-12 perfect attendance during her academic life. We always want our children to accomplish more than we did. So Amanda is one proud mother since Aaran has broken her family record by one year.

Congratulations to Aaran for having the fortitude and determination to reach such a lofty goal. And kudos to his mother, Amanda, for instilling the importance of education and attendance in Aaran.  It is a key factor in success not only in school but the real world.

We wish Aaran good luck and success in all his endeavors after graduation this year. We know he will go far with his excellent work ethic and attendance practices!

Adair County High School would like to announce the results of the recent Work Keys assessment for the Class of 2015. The ACT Work Keys is a job skills assessment system designed to help employers select, hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performance workforce.  Students are required to take a series of tests on Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information to obtain a National Career Readiness Certificate.

The Work Keys assessment measures foundational and soft skills needed for workplace success and global competitiveness. Successful completion of the ACT Work Keys assessments in the areas of Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information leads to earning ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate.  NCRC is a portable credential earned by more than 1 million people across the United States.  Employers are increasingly using the Work Keys and NCRC in their hiring practices.

ACHS would like to honor the following students who earned a gold certificate on the Work Keys.  These students received a score of 5 or higher on all three sections of the test which indicates that they have the skills necessary for 93% of jobs available in the Work Keys database.

Students who are preparatory in a career path, meaning that they are enrolled in or have completed their third course in an approved career pathway in Career and Technical Education, are required to pass the Kentucky Occupational Skills Assessment or earn an industry certificate in that pathway in addition to their Work Keys certificate to be designated as career ready under the accountability model in Kentucky.   The Work Keys National Career Readiness Certification is an integral part of the community’s journey to achieve the designation of Work Ready Community.
