On Sunday, February 20, The Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Burksville Street shortly before 10PM.
After making contact with driver, subject denied request to search vehicle at which point K9 Unit Cally was utilized and alerted on the vehicle. Subsequent search yielded suspected methamphetamine and marijuana. Paul Downs, 35, of Jamestown was taken into custody and has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine and traffic violations. Officer Trevor Foster was the arresting Officer. He was assisted by Officer Justin Cross as well as The Adair County Sheriff’s Office. The Adair County ARPA Committee will meet Monday, February 21, 2022 at 8:00 A.M. CT in the basement of the Adair County Annex building located at 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. Upon arrival, Officers were advised a female had ran through the store and out the back door once Officers had arrived. Subject was located and while speaking with her, it was determined she was under the influence and taken into custody. After being transported to Adair Regional Jail female was found to be concealing suspected methamphetamine on her person by jail staff. Nicolette Hare, 30, of Russell Springs has been charged with public intoxication, promoting contraband, and possession of methamphetamine. She was additionally served three active warrants. Officer Joey Keith was the arresting Officer. He was assisted by Officer Kevin Atwood and Adair Regional Jail Staff. The K9 Defender Fund is a unique non-profit and 501(c)(3) registered organization that is designed to aid specialized K9 Teams, who in turn provide a service or services, to the general public. These K9 Teams are comprised within the units of: Military - Police - Fire - Search & Rescue The common factor that unites all of these teams is the specialized dog that stands along side them. On Tuesday, February 8, Officers were dispatched to a theft at a residence on Fairground Street where callers had reported a male subject was caught on their security cameras stealing a package.
Officers identified the individual and were able to recover the stolen property, however the male individual did not turn himself in and Officers signed a warrant of arrest through the County Attorney’s Office. On Thursday, February 10, the individual was located and taken into custody in Taylor County by The Campbellsville Police Department. David Weiand, 24, of Taylor County has been charged with criminal trespassing as well as theft of mail matter; a class D felony. Officer Josh Durbin is the investigating Officer. Clementsville, KY (February 7, 2022) Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at 8:33 PM on KY 70 in Casey County.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Joshua Wilson, age 30 of Liberty, KY was operating a 2002 Chevy Tracker when he dropped off the roadway and struck a tree. Wilson succumbed to injuries sustained in this collision and was pronounced deceased by the Casey County Coroner. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Matthew Spears. (Tpr. Nick Hale – Public Affairs Officer – KSP POST 15 Columbia) On 2-7-22 at 1:06 a.m. Adair County K-9 Deputy Chandler Staten initiated a traffic stop 15 miles south of Columbia on Cape Rd. The operator Jeffrey Spears, 57, of Columbia was operating a 2019 Nissan Versa. Roadside investigation led to a search of vehicle and persons where suspected methamphetamine was located.
Spears was arrested and lodged in Adair County Regional Jail on charges of: - failure to signal - failure to produce insurance - no registration receipt - driving dui suspended - possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine - possession of drug paraphernalia Adair County Sheriffs Office is continuing investigation. Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff’s Office Adair County Sheriffs Office and first responders are currently on the parkway working multiple collisions. Please find alternate route if you have to travel if not please stay home. The parkway will be shutdown east and west till at least 10 am. It is shut down at 41 mm westbound. Travel toward Russell County is open. Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff’s Office Deputy’s observed the vehicle morning 2-2-22 operating on Russell Rd yesterday around 9:30 a.m and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle accelerated leading the sheriffs office into a pursuit. The vehicle left the roadway near the county line and struck a earth embankment and became hung up.
The operator bailed out of vehicle and headed into woods. Multiple Deputies from Adair and Russell, along with Kentucky State Troopers searched for driver but was unsuccessful. The driver has been identified and is not a resident of Adair County and warrants of arrest will Be obtained by Deputy Gary Roy for the collision the day prior and charges related to the pursuit.
