McGaha and Ellis were arrested on the federal charges Friday evening (December 16th) and lodged in the Warren County Detention Center without bond. Both are scheduled to be in U.S. District Court Wednesday.
The charges stem from an investigation more than a year ago by the Russell Springs Police Department after the department received complaints from parents that alleged improper contact between some teachers and students.
McGaha was employed by the Russell County School System and Ellis by the Casey County Schools System when their names surfaced during the police investigation. Both men were resigned from their teaching positions soon thereafter.
To date, the federal charges against McGaha and Ellis are the only criminal charges to be brought in the Russell Springs Police Investigation. No state charges have been filed.
