The vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, was operated by Cody Dix, 23, of Columbia.
During a road side interview it was suspected that illegal substances were in the vehicle.
Deputy Staten deployed K-9 Nitro and a positive hit indicator resulted for narcotics in vehicle.
A search of the vehicle yielded suspected methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia.
Dix was arrested and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of Display of Illegal/Altered Registration Plate, Possession of a Controlled Substance (1st degree Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office continues with the investigation.
