A stand-off between local authorities and an armed Taylor County man Wednesday, April 25th, ended with no apparent injuries. According to Campbellsville Police a call was received from a concerned citizen around 3:20 in the afternoon reporting that she had spoken with a man who she identified as 78 year old Elwin Hardin of 115 Durrett Street in Campbellsville who claimed he was armed with a .357 magnum and was going to kill someone. Officers attempted to make contact with Hardin with negative results reporting that Hardin did answer the phone one time saying “he was not coming out but for officers to come to the door because he had a surprise for all of them”. Campbellsville Police say attempts to start dialogue with Hardin continued while at the same a time a family member of Hardin’s in Marion County was contacted and brought to the scene. That person was able to talk Hardin into coming out of the house but he was still in possession of the handgun. Campbellsville Police say officers were then able to use a Taser to incapacitate Hardin who was then taken to the ground and into custody without incident. He was taken to Taylor Regional Hospital for medical clearance. Hardin was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, menacing and terroristic threatening. He will be lodged in the Taylor County Jail.
