This informative historical program grows each year and this one will be no exception. Much research by each presenter and supporters goes into each vignette. The history of our town and county, and particularly those interred in the town cemetery, is highlighted in a variety of ways for the spectators assembled at the cemetery.
Attendees should gather at the Adair Public Library’s Genealogy & History Research Center, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, and then travel as a group to the cemetery where presenters will be positioned for their part in the evening's program. The entire program generally lasts about forty-five minutes to an hour, then back to the library for refreshments and time to visit with presenters and attendees.
The presenters this year include:
LeeAnn Jessee
Dave Thomas
Richard Phelps
Mike Watson
J.D. and Ellen Zornes
And perhaps another mystery presenter.
In case of inclement weather, a "rain date" is scheduled for the following Monday, October 10th.
October is Family History Month in the United States and the Silent City Tour is our effort to kick-off a month of family and local history research. Come be with us for an interesting evening.
Sponsored by Adair County Genealogical Society and Adair County Public Library.
