Adair County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chris Tweedy was dispatched to the area to attempt to locate the male.
Upon Deputy Tweedy’s arrival, it was learned that the male had ran into the woods.
A short time later, Deputy Tweedy observed the male coming out of the woods and into a field.
He was then able to make contact with him.
During the interview it was apparent that the male was under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
Deputy Tweedy also observed a handle to a firearm on him.
Upon securing the suspect and checking him, Deputy Tweedy located the loaded handgun, as well as methamphetamine.
Kevin Cooper, 25, of Alaska, was arrested and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (1st degree Methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Public Intoxication.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office continues the investigation and was assisted on scene by Brandon Harvey of the Breeding Fire Department.
