As of today, 35 people have filed the necessary paperwork with the County Clerks Office to be eligible to be on next years ballot. So far the counties Magistrates seats have the most candidates that have filed for the office with 12 candidates (including the incumbents) having filed for the 5 seats.
WJRS News checked with the Secretary of State Office in Frankfort Tuesday and here is the complete list of those who have filed for office as of December 26th.
Names are listed in the order that they were on the Secretary’s website.
County Judge – (Republicans) Landon Helm, Clarissa Hart and (Democrat) Incumbent Gary Robertson.
Circuit Court Clerk – (Republican) Incumbent Tony Kerr.
County Clerk – (Republican) Incumbent Sue Popplewell Brockman.
County Attorney – (Republican) Incumbent Kevin Shearer.
Russell County Sheriff – (Republican) Incumbent Clete McAninch and Gerald Murray
Russell County Jailer – (Republican) Incumbent Bobby Dunbar
