The Blue Raiders went 21-11 last season, reaching the Mid-South Conference Tournament Semifinals. Lindsey Wilson returns three starters from the 2016-17 season, Charles Sutton, Nic Brown and Bryan Wallace. Lindsey Wilson brings in seven freshmen for this season and one transfer. Can Oztamur is a junior transfer from Lewis & Clark CC (Ill).
Sutton was an NAIA All-American Honorable mention selection. Sutton also earned All MSC First team honors and averaged 15.5 points per game which led the team. Brown was the Randy Vernon MSC Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All MSC selection and ranked fourth in the NAIA in blocks per game with 2.5. Wallace earned Second Team All MSC Honors and ranked fifth in the NAIA in steals per game (2.3) and ninth in total steals (68). Last season, Lindsey Wilson ranked fifth in field goal percentage defense (.401), sixth in field goal percentage (.495), seventh in total blocks (140) and blocks per game (4.4).
Central Penn went 25-9 last season and fell in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Championships. The Knights averaged 95.8 points per game last season while allowing just 69.4 points per game. Central Penn shot 46 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from the three-point line. Central Penn grabbed 51.1 rebounds per game and recorded 18.9 assists per games.
Sunday’s matchup is the first meeting between the two schools.
