The Eagles scored 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back. Lindsey Wilson strung together consecutive touchdown drives in the second half to pull to within eight points but were outscored 20-7 for the remainder of the game.
Dylan Beasley completed 20 of his 35 passes in the 55-34 loss for 279 yards, one touchdown and an interception while the Blue Raider rushing attack churned out 177 yards and 3.85 yards per carry against a formidable Reinhardt defense.
Campbellsville (1-6, 0-3 MSC West) dropped a close game against Cumberland (Tenn.), 46-40, on Saturday. Of the Tigers six losses in 2016 five have been decided by a touchdown or less.
Hunter Brown amassed 403 yards and four touchdowns against the Phoenix. The junior signal caller ranks first in the nation with 408.7 passing yards per game.
A shootout seems likely on Saturday as Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville enter the game with two of the top three scoring offenses in the MSC. The Blue Raiders are second in the conference with 48.9 points per game while the Tigers average 40.4 per contest.
The Tigers own a 4-2 advantage over the Blue Raiders in the all-time series but have lost two of the last three meetings.
Last year, Lindsey Wilson dropped a close game against Campbellsville, 26-21. The Tigers scored 19 unanswered points in the second quarter and endured a furious comeback bid by the Blue Raiders, stripping Beasley of the ball at the Campbellsville 41-yard line with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The lost fumble was one of four turnovers committed by Lindsey Wilson in that game.
