As they approached the City Limits of Columbia. Columbia Police Officer Adam Cravens attempted to block the road to keep the pursuit from entering into the City where morning traffic was picking up. At this point the fleeing suspect rammed Officer Cravens and continued on. Although it didn’t immediately stop the suspect Officer Cravens efforts resulted in heavy damage to suspects vehicle that eventually forced him off the road and into an earth embankment about quarter mile past the impact just shy of the city.
At that point suspect fled vehicle with Russell Springs Officer and Deputy Keith in foot pursuit. They lost subject in thick overgrowth however approximately 40 minutes later Sheriffs Deputy Dereck Padgett located him hiding under a truck at a local business MLS down by Russell Creek around half a mile from wear chase started.
Micheal Nickhols, age 31, was taken into custody by Deputy Padgett where he was released to Russell Springs Police Chief and his agency to be taken back to Russell County to face multiple charges.
He will also face charges that will be filed by Adair County Sheriffs Office for Wanton Endangerment 1st degree in Police Officer for striking Officer Cravens. Criminal Mischief 1st degree for the severe damage to City of Columbia Police Cruiser and possession of a Methamphetamine that was found in him when Deputy Padgett took him into custody.
