While on her way to school last Friday, Baker died in a two-car collision in Jeffersonville. She had been a science teacher at Mapleton Elementary School in Mount Sterling for nearly three and half year. She had been with the school district for an additional 10 years.
To honor their teacher, the entire school will wear purple on Tuesday. Mapleton will also hold a balloon ceremony for Baker, where they will share a poem and sing a song together before releasing the balloons in her memory.
Baker's visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-9pm at the Taul Funeral Home in Mount Sterling. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the Mapleton Elementary School Gymnasium, beginning at 1pm.
Grief counselors are still available at the elementary school for anyone who needs to talk about her tragic loss.
