Both performances -- which will be presented at V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson St. -- will be at 7 p.m. CT. It is directed by Lindsey Wilson Assistant Professor of Theatre Robert Brock.
The cast includes LWC students and community members. It was first performed at LWC last summer during TheatreFest! at Lindsey Wilson.
“We had such a great response to our performances last summer that we decided to bring it back so more students could see it,” Brock said. “We also had a lot of area residents ask us to perform it again because they enjoyed it so much, and we had other area residents tell us they wish they had seen it last summer.”
Dearly Departed is a comedy by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones that tells the story of the Turpin family. The Turpins must bury the Southern family’s patriarch, who dies at the play’s opening.
“This is just Southern comedy at its best,” Brock said. “This is a dysfunctional as Southern families get, and it’s a very funny story that audience members will enjoy. They might also identity with a few of the play’s characters.”
Dearly Departed will be performed at 7 p.m. CT on Aug. 27-28 in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson St. Tickets are $5 at the door. For more information -- including group specials -- contact Robert Brock at brockr@lindsey.edu or 270-590-4803.
