The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 8 temporarily closed the intersection on May 27 for culvert pipe replacement beneath both routes (KY 55X and KY 206). While closure was in place KYTC made additions consisting of adding a left turn lane from southbound KY 55X onto KY 206 eastbound and building a right turn from KY 206 westbound onto KY 55X north.
Along with the new turn lanes, motorists will also see a new signal installed for traffic traveling southbound KY 55. The light, like the signal installed at the KY 55 and KY 80 intersection in Columbia two years ago, includes a flashing yellow arrow, which indicates that motorists are allowed to proceed with caution but must yield to oncoming traffic.
