The Blue Raiders controlled the game from the outset, building a 26-0 lead to improve to 3-0 on the season with the win. Faulkner falls to 1-1 with the loss.
Cordarien Trice, Luke Bowman, and Malachi Rogan led the Blue Raiders with eight tackles each. Rogan added a pair of tackles for a loss, one sack and a forced fumble to help the Lindsey Wilson defense to surrender just one touchdown on the afternoon. Faulkner added a scoop-and-score on a blocked punt for its first points of the game in the third quarter.
While the defense was stout, the Blue Raider offense methodically accumulated 472 total yards -- including 209 on the ground. The Faulkner defense entered the game ranked second in the Mid-South Conference allowing just 77 rushing yards per game.
Jaylen Boyd led the Blue Raider rushing attack with 102 yards for his fourth career 100-yard rushing game and his second this season.
After a defensive battle to open the game, Lindsey Wilson finally dented the scoreboard with 3:49 left in the first quarter as Cameron Dukes connected with Jay Gaudlock on a 35-yard touchdown strike. Dukes finished the game with 17-of-33 for 263 passing yards and three touchdowns -- two passing and one rushing. Gaudlock caught five passes for a team-high 93 yards.
Lindsey Wilson played its best quarter of the day in the second frame sprinting out to a 23-0 lead at the break.
Dukes capped a 12-play, 83-yard drive with a one-yard plunge into the endzone for a 13-0 lead with 8:27 left in the half. The 12-play drive matches the longest of the season for the Blue Raiders.
After the Lindsey Wilson defense forced the first of two straight Faulkner three-and-outs, the Blue Raider offense extended the lead to 20-0. Dukes hit a streaking Tre Dickerson for 37 yards up the right sideline for his first touchdown catch of the season with 3:16 left.
The second three-and-out gave the Blue Raiders the ball back with 1:38 left and Lindsey Wilson cashed in with a Jared Daugherty 21-yard field goal as time expired.
The 23-0 lead marked the second straight game the Blue Raiders pitched a shutout in the opening half. Lindsey Wilson led Point (Ga.) last week 14-0 at intermission.
Daugherty extended the lead on its first drive of the second half with a 28-yard field goal for the 26-0 lead. Daugherty improves to 4-for-4 this season in field goals.
Faulkner scored its first points of the day on special teams in the waning seconds of the third quarter.
Aaron Reynolds blocked a Daugherty punt and Isaiah Scott scooped up the loose ball and scampered in for a touchdown with 28 seconds remaining in the quarter. The Eagles added their lone offensive touchdown of the game with 4:05 left in the game as Mason Blocker connected with Scott to trim the lead to 26-14.
Faulkner threatened to make things interesting recovering an on-side kick, but Mark Pruitt intercepted a deflected pass for the second takeaway of the day for the Blue Raiders to all but seal the win.
Boyd and company ran out the clock for the 26-14 win.
Terrill Cole Jr. finished the game with a team-high five catches for 37 yards while Scotty Krantz added a career-high four catches for 67 yards. J.T. Lyon joined Pruitt with an interception while ending with six tackles.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson improves to 9-1 all-time in Homecoming games, including winning seven straight.
