The preliminary investigation indicated that Joseph Carter (42) of Cave City was operating a 2000 Freightliner propane truck and was traveling east on KY 569 when he started down a hill into a left hand curve. Carter failed to negotiate the curve and exited the right side of the roadway where the truck rotated clockwise and then overturned. While overturning the truck struck a tree causing significant damage to the cab of the truck.
Mr. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hart County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper First Class Jonathan McChesney. He was assisted on the scene by Master Trooper Lonnie Hodges, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Brian Woods, Hart County Coroner’s Office, Hart County EMS, Linwood Fire Department, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
