Chief Deputy Nick Bertram’s investigation determined a 2005 Ford Mustang operated by Scottie Peterson, 28, of Jamestown, was northbound on U.S. 127 and crossed the center of the roadway, into the path of a southbound 2011 Hyundai car operated by Makenzie Back, 19, of Russell Springs, resulting in the vehicles colliding head-on.
Peterson was airlifted from the scene to the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Back and two passengers, her father Chris and sister Megan, were all transported by Russell County EMS to the Russell County Hospital for treatment with Chris Back later being airlifted to the U.K. Medical Center for further treatment.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing
