Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman initiated an investigation after a local business, on liberty road, reported a theft of nearly $5,000. After the investigation was completed the case was submitted to the Adair Circuit Grand Jury by Sheriff Brockman. As a result an indictment of arrest was secured by Commonwealth Attorney Brian Wright .
On 12-06-22 around 2pm KSP Trooper Brandon Roark traveled to Russell County and executed the warrant of arrest. Amanda Graham, age 40, was lodged in The Adair County Regional Jail on charges of Theft by Deception over $1,000 but less then $10,000. Sheriffs Office is continuing investigation. The Columbia Police Department investigated a single vehicle collision with property damage which began early Monday morning, December 5, near the intersection of Hudson Street and Burksville Street.
Vehicle operator appeared to have lost control damaging several utility lines before completely leaving the roadway and damaging fencing and building of Southern Petroleum on Burksville Street and coming to a stop. Party then fled on foot. While on scene, a male juvenile was brought to scene by his father who advised his son had contacted him by phone wanting to be picked up in town. It was soon determined juvenile had taken family vehicle without permission after sneaking out of the home. The male juvenile was released back into custody of parents and is currently facing multiple felony charges including wanton endangerment 1st degree, criminal mischief 1st degree, and fleeing and evading on foot 1st degree. Officer Holly Necessary is the investigating Officer. She was assisted on scene by Deputy Chris Tweedy and Sgt Evan Burton. Beginning tomorrow, December 6, through Saturday, December 17, Dollar General Store on Jamestown Street HWY55 South will be partnering again in Cram the Cruiser with The Columbia Police Department.

On Tuesday, November 29, The Columbia Police Department received an anonymous tip party or parties may travel through the area and attempt to pass and fill forged prescriptions for controlled substances.
While checking a local pharmacy, Officers made contact with a male subject who attempted to flee on foot after encountering Officers. Male was apprehended by Columbia Police Department after brief foot pursuit and was taken into custody with no further incident. Joshua Winston, 24, of Franklin, Ohio has been charged with fleeing and evading on foot 2nd degree as well as forgery of a prescription 1st offense; a class D felony. Sgt Evan Burton was the arresting Officer, he was assisted on scene by Officer Trevor Foster. Columbia is the place to be tonight and Saturday for Christmas in Columbia!
Christmas in Columbia kicks off tonight with the final Chamber of Commerce ‘To the Nines’ Shop Local event of this year. Visit all our shops on and just off the Square to find that perfect gift tonight until 9pm. The Journey To The Manger returns this year put on by Pickett’s Chapel Church this Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, December 2, 3 and 4, 6:00pm – 9:00pm with the location at 2300 Milltown Road. Also tonight, December 2, is the Antioch United Methodist Church Christmas play beginning at 6:30pm. Christmas at the City Farm is Saturday from 9:00 – 4:00pm at 135 Moore Street featuring lots of vendors of all kinds. There is a $5 admission fee. The Trabue Russell House is having a very special Open House on Saturday from 11:00am – 2:00pm with free cookies and hot chocolate and Santa arrives from noon till 1:00pm with FUN for all kids. If you have children in your family, you’ve got to take them to the Children’s Carnival at Lindsey Wilson College, Holloway Health and Wellness Center Saturday, December 3, 1:00 – 4:00pm for a wonderland full of FUN activities, sweets and children’s crafts. And from 1:30 - 3:30pm, Santa and Mrs. Claus are there! Oh, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be riding in the fire truck during the Christmas Parade. Then, this year’s Chamber of Commerce 31st annual Christmas Parade is the largest ever! Lots of beautiful floats, many other lighted and decorated vehicles of all kinds, ACHS ROTC, ACHS Marching Band and our Grand Marshals are the Food Pantry volunteers. You don’t want to miss this year’s parade beginning at 6pm, Saturday, December 3, on Jamestown Street. See you there as we ‘Rock Around the Christmas Tree’! |
