Taylor County Coroner Terry Dabney says the body of Niles H Lawlor, 66 of Sulpher Wells, was found yesterday afternoon at 3:30 washed into a tree stump on Green River. Lawlor’s body had drifted ½ a mile from where his canoe capsized in late March.Initial reports say Lawlor was canoeing on Green River with Melvin Corman, 68 of Edmonton, when his canoe capsized 8 miles down Green River. The Central Kentucky News Journal reports Lawlor was not wearing a vest at the time of the incident.
The Coroner says recent rains and high waters have played a factor in search efforts.
Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home is in charge of Lawlor’s arrangements.
