L. Hancock Rd. was first reported to be reopened on Thursday of this week. Work is taking longer than expected and this road will be closed until Tuesday, March 26, 2019

The Relay For Life After Dark Adult Easter Egg Hunt will be April 13, 2019 at the Jim Blair Center. Kids will hunt eggs at 6:30 p.m. and the adults will hunt around 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person. There will be 5,000 eggs stuffed with candy and prize tickets. The hearing is open to the public. Columbia, Ky. (March 15, 2019) – Kentucky State Police, Post 15 will be conducting safety traffic checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton and Cumberland. Troopers will be checking for impaired drivers, children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats and informing the public about the use of seatbelts. These safety checkpoints will be conducted in various locations throughout the Post 15 area that are experiencing a high ratio of vehicular crashes resulting in injury and/or death compared to relatively low safety restraint usage ratio.
On 03-10-11 after midnight. Sheriff’s Deputy’s Joey Keith, Chandler Staten, and Justin Cross Executed a search warrant at the home of Kameron Ford (21) on Powell Rd. Deputy’s seized packaged marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Ford was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of Trafficking in Marijuana over 8 ounces. Adair County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Kentucky State Police on scene. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin will visit Columbia on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 12:30pmCT for a community dialogue about economic development, adoption/foster care, and other key issues and initiatives impacting the Commonwealth. The forum will be held at Lindsey Wilson College in the V.P. Henry Auditorium and is open to the public.
One person was dead after a two vehicle crash Thursday night, March 7th, in Taylor County. According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened when a 2013 Mazda operated by 62 year old Sharon Clark of Campbellsville collided with a 2016 Mitsubishi driven by 51 year old Timothy Shirley of Summersville. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. Shirley and two passengers in the Mitsubishi were taken to Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. One of the two passengers was flown to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment on non-life threatening injuries. According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened after the Clark vehicle struck a deer in the roadway then crossed into the oncoming lane colliding with Shirley vehicle. The accident happened just before 8 P.M. eastern time just west of the junction of Greensburg Road and Davis Road in Taylor County.
