Wanda Mayfield Baker, age 89, of Somerset, KY entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab Center.
Wanda was born on April 23, 1926 in Dabney, KY to the late Alfred Mayfield and Grace Chaney Mayfield. She worked at Roses Department Store in the late 60’s and later went on to work at Oakwood for nine years. Wanda was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she served as treasurer and clerk for several years. She was a loving and godly woman who lived for her God and family.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky (and Kathy) Turner of Somerset, KY and Rooney (and Bobbie) Turner of Somerset, KY; four daughters, Lana (and Ish) Minix of Somerset, KY, Geraldean Mounce of Lyons,GA, Paula (and Beney) Nicely of Somerset, KY and Marti (and Terry) Huff of Russell Co., KY; three sisters, Phyllis Whitaker of Somerset, KY, June Hall of Somerset, KY and Helen Raney of Mooresville, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Tonya, Lora, Jason, Travis, Tina, Sherri, Johnny, Angi, Brian, Shawn, Scott, Jamee and Lindsey; twenty great-grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, Marina, Tyler, Eli, Nic, Will, Jack, Trustin, Katelyn, J.D., Peyton, Adison, Maddie, Allison, Ezekiel, Emilee, Erika, Griffen and Easton; one great-great grandchild, Braxton; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Turner of Somerset, KY.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Baker whom she married on December 30, 1967 in London, KY and he preceded her on October 8, 1993; a son, Rodney Turner, three brothers, Marvin Mayfield, Sherrill Mayfield and Willard Mayfield; two sisters, Jeane Harp and Bernadean Wells; a grandson, Brandon Crowder; and two sons-in-law, Leamon Rogers and John Mounce.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 1, 2016 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Bethany Baptist Church.
Her funeral service will follow on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00pm at Bethany Baptist Church with Bro. Isaiah Super officiating. Burial will be at Chaney Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Turner, Johnny Mounce, Brian Turner, Scott Turner, Shawn Turner, David Mayfield, Tommy Russell and Kent Mayfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Rogers, Jack Rogers, J.D. Mounce, Peyton Mounce, Ezekiel Turner, Travis Rogers, Nicholas Rogers and Trustin Adkins.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Chaney Cemetery Fund.
