Born August 22, 1930 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Ruth Wilkinson Grider. She was a cook for 39 years for the Casey County Board of Education. Mary was a member of The First Baptist Church of Liberty.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Rodgers; daughter, Beverly Jean Rodgers; grandson, Randy Lewis Rodgers; and eleven sibling, Ruby Lanham, Urine Wells, Katherine Boardman, and Melvin, Ray, Alma, Paul, Ralph, Lewis, Herman, and Charlie Grider.
Survivors include daughter, Phyllis (and Jock) Sutherland of Nicholasville; a son, James (and Brittney) Rodgers, of Liberty; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until funeral service.
Pall bearers are Troy Sanders, Tommy Rodgers, Josh Rodgers, Bryan Grider, Ronald “Cookie” Cook, and Josh Hines. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Dementia & Alzheimer Association of Kentucky or The First Baptist Church of Liberty.
