Mary Ada Greenwell Rice, Age 96, received the gift of eternal life on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Her life was characterized by deep faith, hard work and unconditional love. With Mary as her model, she loved her Catholic faith, serving both God and her neighbor.
She is preceded in death by her husband George (1978) and her infant son, David Lee.
She is survived by: Eleven children: Mary Ann Flanagan (Frank)--Lebanon, KY.; Fr. Nick Rice-- Louisville, KY.; Sue Ellen Ford (Leo)--Calvary, KY.; Patricia West--Lebanon, KY.; Joseph Rice (Linda)-- Bardstown, KY.; Nancy Edelen (Maurice)--Springfield, KY.; Donna Hardin (Steve)-- Springfield, KY.; Garland Rice (Robin)-- North Carolina; Teresa Rice-- Louisville, KY.; Karen Cathran (Shane)-- Texas. Brother: Fabe Greenwell-- Texas.
Also surviving are twenty five grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren, and seventeen great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to express a deep gratitude to the Sister of Loretto and the entire staff at the infirmary, Drs. Salem & David George, and to the good people of St. Augustine and St. Charles Parishes.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2016. Officiated by Father Nick Rice, with interment to follow in the St. Augustine Church Cemetery.
Visitations will be held from 4:00-8:30 P.M. on Friday, July 22, 2016, with prayer services to be held at 7:00 P.M. at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, KY.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.
