Born June 26, 1947 in Casey County, KY, he is the son of the late Wesley Thomas Murphy and Carmen Earcel Mason Murphy. He was a paralegal and attended the Church of Christ. Les loved politics and was a law clerk for Judge James Weddle. He was a former EMT for the Casey EMS and a former Lexington Police officer and EKU Police officer.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry Faye Dalton Murphy, whom he married November 24, 1981; a son, Donavan Murphy of Frankfort; two step-sons, Andrew (and Sharon) Richardson of Liberty and Aaron Richardson of Monticello; a daughter, Nikki (and William) Wethington of Liberty; six grandchildren, Ashely, Zach, Hunter, Autumn, and Thomas Richardson and Lauren Wethington; three sisters, Dorothy Watson of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Mary Ann (and Les) Russell of Liberty, and Ina Faye (and Ronald) Eads of Franklin, Indiana; and sister-in-law, Georgeanna Murphy of Liberty.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Wesley “Buck” Murphy.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral home with Bro. Robert Atwood and Bro. Roger Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral service.
Pallbearers are Junior, Cody, and Casey Weddle, Roger Thompson, Dustin McAfee, and Ronnie Joe Eads.
