Elma P. Buis, age 80, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Russell County Hospital.
Born May 31, 1936, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Lena Wall Buis. Mrs. Buis was a homemaker and a member of the Willow Springs United Methodist Church. She had a strong faith in God. She was independent, strong willed, and a proud Republican. Mrs. Buis enjoyed canning, fishing, and the drink Dr. Pepper.
Survivors include her sons, James Vernon Meeks, Jr., Randy Arnold (and wife, Tonya) Meeks, and Lelious Raymond (and wife, Angie) Meeks, all of Liberty; daughters, Kathy (and husband, Robert) Myers of Liberty and Karen (and husband, David) Eastham of Eubank; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Vernon Meeks and Willis Hendren; brothers, Ethridge and Lelious Buis; and sister, Shirley Rose Chadwell.
Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bros. David Eastham and Creech Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9PM on Monday at the funeral home.
