Carlie was a member of Valley Oak Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a quilter. She enjoyed gardening, canning and helping on the farm.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine (and Bobby) Atwood of Liberty; a son, Robert (and Ethel) Roy of Yosemite; five grandchildren, Neil (and Christy) Roy, Bradley Roy, Kevin (and Nikki) Atwood, Brent (and Ashley) Atwood and Karen (and Ben) Looney. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Grace Roy, Andrew and Matthew Roy, Austin Wethington, Kaydin Atwood, Laikyn Atwood and Emmett Atwood; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Roy of Cincinnati, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Everett Clay Roy. They were united in marriage on July 5, 1944. She is also predeceased by two sons, Boyd Roy and Gary McKinley Roy; two sisters, Ilene Elliot and Arlie Faye Barber; and five brothers, Marcus “Boot” Barber, James Barber, Allen Barber, Marvin Barber and Phillip Barber.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Valley Oak Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Clark and Bro. Josh Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Valley Oak Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions of sympathy may be given to Valley Oak Cemetery.
