
Carl was born on October 22, 1923 in Somerset, KY to the late James Chaney and Letha Taylor Chaney.
He was a Coal miner and WWII Veteran of the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 serving mostly in France. Carl especially loved coon hunting, playing his guitar and singing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Hawk Chaney, whom he married on March 5, 1947 and they just celebrated their 69th Anniversary; four sons, Roger Dale Chaney of Somerset, KY, Gerald Lee (and Opal) Chaney of Somerset, KY, James Robert (and Debra) Chaney of Somerset, KY and Johnny Allen (and Carol) Chaney of Scottsville, KY; a daughter-in-law, Sue Chaney of Somerset, KY; two sisters, Juanita Bledsoe of Greenwood, IN and Ruth Rigney of Greenwood, IN; six grandchildren, Dale (and Angie) Chaney, Sharon (and Jeff) Young, Gerald Chaney, Jr., Ashley Willis, John Eric (and Heather) Chaney and Andrea (and Brian) Ford; and seven great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carletta Chaney; a brother, Kenneth Chaney; and two sisters, Ada Bullock and Gerllene Frost.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday, at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Bullock officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
