He was born April 9, 1924 in St. Mary’s Kentucky to the late James and Stella Porter. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary “Christine” Porter, son Artie Porter Jr., brother James Porter Jr., sister Martha Railey and grandson, Christopher A. Porter.
Artie was a very devoted member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and was employed by the church and school for 35 years. Artie was also employed by American Greetings for 25 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters: Mary Jayne Dunn of Louisville Kentucky, Mildred Taylor, Sheila (Chester) Kavanaugh and Arnetta (Keith) Myers all of Danville Kentucky; two sisters, Pauline Hill of Lebanon Kentucky and Anna Bea Groves of Louisville Kentucky; a special friend, Louise Young of Springfield, KY and her family; ten grandchildren: Stephanie Dunn, Eddie Dunn, Kelly Dunn, Mark (Mary Carol) Porter, Chester (Mary) Kavanaugh II, Tierra Kavanaugh (Fredrick) Wayne, Courtney Givens, Stephanie (Raymond) Harrison, Traci Johnson, Keisha Porter; twenty-one great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service: Friday, June 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church
Visitation: Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church
