According the Chief Irvin, Peterson entered the store around 5:45 Sunday evening and went straight to the pharmacy where he demanded the pharmacist on duty to provide him with certain controlled substances. Chief Irvin told WJRS News last night that the pharmacist had reason to believe the individual was armed. After receiving an undetermined amount of controlled substances, the suspect reportedly left the store on foot.
Peterson was taken into custody by Russell Springs Police Department Officers Parrish and Pritchard, and later lodged in the Russell County Detention Center by Officer Parrish. Peterson was cooperative and assisted in the recovery of some of the controlled substances that he had stolen from Rite-Aid and hidden. Officers Parrish and Pritchard were assisted by Chief Irvin.
Officer Parrish is the case officer for this case. Chief Irvin commends Officers Parrish and Pritchard for their professionalism, diligence, and determination with this investigation.
