At approximately 9:20 a.m., Russell County Sheriff Clete McAninch and Deputies, along with members of both the Jamestown and Russell Springs Police Departments, assisted Deputy U.S. Marshal Frank Keyton in apprehending 18-year-old Alfonso Morales formerly of Versailles.
Alfonso Morales was being sought on a Burglary 1st Degree warrant in connection with a burglary on September 16th of last year at the home of Fayette Circuit Judge James Ishmael. Alfonso Morales was found hiding in a closet in his brother’s apartment at the ABC Apartment complex on Airport Road, just west of Jamestown. He was taken into custody without incident.
Based on evidence observed while locating and apprehending Alfonso Morales, a Search Warrant was obtained for Jesus Morales’ apartment. The subsequent search resulted in the discovery and seizure of more than a pound of marijuana and nearly $1,400 cash.
Jesus Morales and Alfonso Morales were charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, over 8 ounces – less than 5 pounds, a Class “D” felony. Both men were processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
Additionally, a “detainer” was placed on both for the U.S. Department of Immigration & Naturalization.
