In the years since the play made its debut on Broadway in 1952, Miller’s The Crucible has been regarded as one of the more thoughtful, challenging, and thought-provoking American plays.
Robert Brock tells us that he chose the play because of its “incredibly important content” as well as its “particular challenge for actors.”
LWC Theatre produced The Crucible in Fall 2011 when the program was still in its infancy. LWC Assistant to the Director of Theatre, Jeremy Cloyd, who also plays Governor Danforth in the production tells us that this production is particularly exciting to him because of his history with the production.
“The Crucible was the first play that I worked on in college. Of course, back then, we didn’t have anything really. That production was before V.P. Henry Auditorium was renovated so we had no lighting or sound to speak of” says Cloyd. “While I loved what we were able to do with that production, I think that the advancement of production elements are going to make this show an incredible experience for audiences.”
The Lindsey Wilson College Theatre Program will perform Arthur Miller’s The Crucible at 7pmCT on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday December 3, 5, & 6 and at 7pmCT on Sunday afternoon, December 8 in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. The play is directed by LWC Director of Theatre Robert Brock.
