The Blue Raiders collected 287 total voting points from the panel of national raters and have been ranked in 60-consecutive polls dating back to the first week of the 2013 season.
Lindsey Wilson (8-0, 4-0 Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division) is coming off a 35-17 road victory over Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday. Dylan Beasley threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns while Jayven Jones recorded his second career 100-yard rushing game. LWC’s defense surrendered just 10 points to the Bethel offense and recorded five takeaways in the win, including a pair of key red zone interceptions.
The 8-0 start matches the best start in program history, which the Blue Raiders achieved during the 2016 season.
There was minimal movement at the top of the poll as the top-10 teams all remained the same from last week’s rankings. Defending national champion Saint Francis (Ind.) continues to hold the top spot with 340 voting points and all 15 first-place votes. Baker (Kan.) is second at 327 points, followed by Reinhardt (Ga.) with 312. Morningside (Iowa) is the final team ahead of LWC with 303 points at No. 4.
Eight teams reside within the poll with unbeaten records.
Joining the Blue Raiders from the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division in the poll is Georgetown (Ky.) at No. 9, Campbellsville (Ky.) at No. 21 and Cumberland (Tenn.) at No. 22.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action this Saturday as the Blue Raiders host Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. CT at Blue Raider Stadium.
