The Blue Raiders garnered 297 voting points from the panel of head coaches that makes up the national voting committee to move up one position. Lindsey Wilson opened the 2019 season ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll and have continued to move up the rankings each week as they are a perfect 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Mid-South Conference action.
Lindsey Wilson is coming off an impressive 55-21 win as they downed Thomas More (Ky.) last Saturday. The win marked the fifth time this season the Blue Raiders have scored over 40 points. LWC has now been ranked in 82 consecutive NAIA ratings dating back to Sept. 16, 2013.
The Blue Raiders are the highest of five Mid-South Conference teams in this week’s poll. No. 9 Cumberlands (Ky.), No. 12 Keiser (Fla.), No. 17 Reinhardt and No. 19 Southeastern (Fla.) join Lindsey Wilson in the national poll from the MSC. Pikeville (Ky.) is featured in the receiving votes section of the poll.
Morningside (Iowa) remains atop the poll with 392 voting points and all 17 first-place votes. Kansas Wesleyan follows with 367 voting points and Marian (Ind.) checks in at No. 3 with 366 voting points.
The Blue Raiders are one of 10 teams in the top-25 with unbeaten records this season.
The next regular-season poll is scheduled to be released on Monday, Oct. 28.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they travel to MSC opponent Pikeville (Ky.) for a contest at the Hambley Athletic Complex.
