KLC Deputy Executive Director J.D. Chaney praised Representative Carney’s long-standing support of cities. “We are grateful for the great relationship Representative Carney has with the cities in his district and for his willingness to work with us on legislation that improves those communities and municipalities across the state. Having someone with his understanding of city government and his dedication to schools was vital in the crafting of the school safety bill, and we look forward to continuing to work with him on the funding of that measure and other key revenue issues facing cities.”
“The 2019 legislative session was extremely successful, in no small part thanks to passage of ‘The School Safety and Resiliency Act,’ which I sponsored in the House, and the numerous bills which passed aimed at supporting and empowering our cities and counties,” said Representative Carney. “I want to thank KLC not only for recognizing my support for local governments, but also for working with us to move Kentucky forward in many ways.”
KLC Executive Director/CEO Jonathan Steiner spoke on the important role Representative Carney has played in securing passage of legislation important to cities. “We cannot stress enough how much we appreciate the willingness of people in leadership roles to sit down and talk to us about the needs and concerns of city leaders and residents. Representative Carney is always ready to discuss how he can make his communities more successful and livable. We are proud to recognize him for his hard work and commitment.”
