Update:The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement responded to a two vehicle injury collision that occurred today at approximately 9:33 a.m. 2 miles north of Columbia on KY 55.
The preliminary investigation indicated that 66-year-old Brenda Stephens of Columbia was operating a 2014 Chrysler when she pulled into the path of a 2015 Freightliner being driven by 48-year-old Lester Price of Olympia. Price’s vehicle overturned causing the trailer loaded with milk to spill resulting in KY55 being blocked for most of the day.
Stephens and Price were both transported to Westlake Hospital where they were flown to University of Kentucky Hospital by Air Evac. Price was wearing his seat belt, while Stephens was not wearing her seat belt. Stephens and Price are listed in critical but stable condition.
Senior Officer Derek Cundiff is investigating the accident and was assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police Sgt. John Barnett, the Adair Co Sheriff’s Office, EMS, Rescue, Fire and the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
