On 10-16-20 at 10:39 pm Deputy Joey Keith and K-9 Deputy Josh Durbin with K-9 nitro initiated a traffic stop 9 miles east of Columbia on KY 80 of a 2007 Volvo.
During the stop deputy’s suspected there was illegal drugs in the vehicle and Deputy Durbin ran K-9 nitro on the vehicle. Nitro had a positive hit indicator for illegal substances in vehicle and as a result a search was conducted.
Located was over 5 ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine with a street value over 15,000, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash.
Arrested was George Tom Polston 58 of Columbia on charges of:
1 - Failure to wear seatbelts
2- possession of a controlled substance 1st degree
3- possession of marijuana
4-possession of drug paraphernalia
5- trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine
He was lodged in the Adair County Jail. Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Kentucky State Police.
Update: In reference to the traffic stop that yielded over 5 ounces of methamphetamine on 10-16-20 the Adair County Sheriffs office inadvertently left out the arrest of Walter Thomas age 67 of Russell Springs.
Thomas was charged with Possession of a controlled substance 1st degree , trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail. .
