Three children inside the cabin were taken to Russell County Hospital, one by private vehicle and two via Russell County EMS, according to Russell County Emergency Management Director HM Bottom. A woman staying at the cabin was also taken to the hospital for observation after having chest pains. Those inside the cabin, which was knocked from its foundation by the falling tree, were pulled to safety through a window, according to officials.
The South Russell Fire Department, Russell County EMS, the Kentucky State Police, state park personnel, local emergency management and other local law enforcement responded to the scene.
Winds Sunday also caused damage to docks at several local marinas on Lake Cumberland but no injuries were reported in those incidents.
