Adair county 911 received the call at 1:57 pm of a 23 year old that had been struck by a limb that fell from a tree.
Due to being a distance back in the woods and the rough terrain Adair County Fire Department, Knifley Fire Department and Emergency Management was notified for additional staff and resources to assist. EMS worked to stabilize the patient and treat him on scene before they began to transport him.
A landing zone for air medical was established at Ems request at a local church in the area. Patient was loaded into air evac helicopter and transported to University of Kentucky.
According to witness statements giving to the Sheriff’s Office. David Miller, age 23 of Pellyton was cutting a tree down for harvest and a large limb that was lodged came down. Another logger was able to see it starting to come down and was trying to get the attention of miller but due to the saw running David couldn’t hear him and he couldn’t get to him on time. The limb struck David in the head who was wearing a hard hat. The impact busted through the helmet completely.
